Sutherland recently completed a project for a major investment bank
that will generate savings of €880m over ten years.
The client approached Sutherland Consulting with a considerable challenge.
It needed someone to manage the biggest outsourcing project in the banks' history. The bank had
plans for a sweeping upgrade of its data processing systems. If it went well it would save €880m
over 10 years. If it failed it had the potential to bring the bank to its knees.
Sutherland Consulting was brought in to apply its revolutionary Zero Trust
Management techniques and provide a 100% cast iron guarantee of success. The project required
the construction of two new data centres; the transfer of over 22 mainframes and over 200 servers
to the new data centres; the upgrade of all existing applications and the subsequent transfer of
over 4,000 critical applications to the new data centres. All without impacting on day to day operation.
The project was brought in under budget and before the deadline. Sutherland's
contribution was so valuable that it was given a substantial bonus in recognition. The first time
that the bank has ever given a bonus to an external consultant. Zero Trust Management techniques
are now being introduced throughout the bank in corporate real estate, trans-continental data transfer,
private banking, the integration of a recent acquisition and a number of other areas.
